All these organic labels guarantee the quality of the cosmetics and their compliance with various organic regulations.

In this section, you will find all the information you need to understand the different organic labels that are now on the market.

1 COSMEBIO:

The Cosmebio label was created in 2002 by a collaboration of a dozen of the world's leading cosmetic laboratories.

The cosmebio label is very difficult to obtain due to very strict regulations.

Controls are carried out by independent certification laboratories, such as Ecocert, which certify cosmetic products.

Guarantees:

  • 95% from natural ingredients and 95% from organic plants.
  • GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the use of pesticides are prohibited in the cultivation of natural plants.
  • Synthetic perfumes and synthetic dyes, parabens, silicones, petrochemicals, and ethoxylated products (PEG) are prohibited.
  •  Ingredients of animal origin are prohibited
  • Testing of cosmetic products on animals is prohibited.
  • Packaging must be recyclable.

2 ECOCERT:

Ecocert is an inspection and certification laboratory approved by the French Ministry of Economy. Organic cosmetic manufacturers working with the Ecocert label are inspected twice a year.

Guarantees:

  • 95% from natural ingredients and 10% from organic natural ingredients.
  • Ingredients of animal origin are prohibited
  • GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the use of pesticides are prohibited in the cultivation of natural plants.
  • Testing of cosmetic products on animals is prohibited.
  • Packaging must be recyclable.

3 NATRUE:

NaTrue is an international interest group of organic cosmetics laboratories. The general objective is to maintain the highest level of organic standards.

Guarantees:

  • NATRUE’s certified products are made up only of 100% natural, derived natural and nature-identical substances.
  • Cosmetic products can be certified with the NATRUE Label as natural or organic cosmetics. For the organic certification level, at least 95% of the natural substances or the derived natural substances must come from certified organic farming.
  • No artificial ingredients.
  • No substances from GMOs, silicones, parabens, microplastics, synthetic fragrances or mineral oils are permitted in the formulation of products carrying the NATRUE Label.
  • For a product to carry the NATRUE Label, at least 75%* of the products of its brand or sub-brand need to be NATRUE certified to be granted our seal.
  • For NATRUE, only water coming from a plant source is considered as a natural substance in the formulation. Added water does not contribute to the overall natural content calculation.

4 VEGAN:

This label indicates which products are vegan, i.e. products that do not contain animal ingredients.

Guarantees:

  • 100% of the ingredients come from plants.

5 Label BIO:

Some organic labels are less well known but still have a quality value.

Guarantees:

  • 100% of the ingredients come from plants.
  • GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the use of pesticides are prohibited in the cultivation of natural plants.
  • Synthetic perfumes and synthetic dyes, parabens, silicones, petrochemicals and ethoxylated products (PEG) are prohibited.

6 CRUELTY FREE:
